EARLY SPODE COPELAND SCENIC PLATTER
This particular platter has a brown transferware border of lattice entertwined with lush ivy and bundles of grapes. The The platter depicts two young girls and a toddler aged child crossing a stream on horseback...one of the girls is walking alongside a horse appearing to be helping her younger sister stay atop the horse. To the left is their dog, watching on. In the backs ground is a rural English farmhouse. The scene is absolutely beautiful!
The detail in the transfer is exquisite and has been painstakingly handpainted in places with hues of brown/gold, green, blue, taupe, pink and yellows. Absolutely one of the most beautiful pastoral scenes ever applied to transferware.
Condition is good. No chips or cracks. there is a little wear to the green paint around the rim.
Measures: approx. 11 1/2" x 9"
